Professor Dr. Md. Mafizur Rahman
Dr. Md. Mafizur Rahman is a Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at Islamic University, Bangladesh. His research focuses on molecular microbiology, microbial genomics, bioinformatics, zoonotic pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, and infectious diseases.
He specializes in studying pathogenic bacteria and viruses, including Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Nipah virus, and dengue vectors, using advanced approaches such as whole genome sequencing (WGS), metagenomics, molecular diagnostics, and computational biology. He earned his Ph.D. from Kangwon National University, South Korea, where he also completed postdoctoral research.
Dr. Rahman has published over 50 SCI/SCIE and Scopus-indexed articles in leading international journals and has led several nationally and internationally funded research projects. He is also actively involved in scientific publishing as an editorial board member and peer reviewer, contributing to the advancement of biotechnology, genomics, and public health research worldwide.
